Well how exciting is this?
Our two favourite islandista supermodels Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn have been united for an advertising campaign – for the first time ever. Why didn’t anyone think of this sooner?
The geniuses behind this pairing are the folks at Burberry who had Mario Testino photograph Campbell and Dunn for their spring/summer 2015 campaign.
It’s an evident continuation of the veteran/new wave great British supermodel pairings that Burberry started earlier this year when they shot Kate Moss with Cara Delevigne for their My Burberry fragrance.
The connections between Campbell and Dunn are many and well known. Besides both being discovered on the streets of London at age 15, they are both proudly of Jamaican heritage and are both outspoken voices on racism in fashion. Campbell took Dunn under her wing from early on, giving her advice about the industry and the two have been seen out and about before with Dunn affectionately calling Campbell her “guardian angel”.
That warmth is evident in the shots released which show Campbell embracing Dunn protectively and the two laughing it up in colourful, summery takes on Burberry’s classic trench.
Burberry’s creative director Christopher Bailey said it was a “privilege” to shoot the two islandista supers for their campaign, adding:
“Naomi and Jourdan – two great British icons, two strong, beautiful women and the two perfect faces for our new campaign. “
