A whole lot of Caribbean cool collided in recent weeks as two of our favourite islandistas, Michelle Elie and Shala Monroque have been travelling up and down the region.
The good friends and fashion world insiders have been showcasing the true beauty of Michelle’s native Haiti, Shala’s native St. Lucia and Trinidad through a series of Instagram snaps.
Besides probably making tons of islandistas seriously homesick (crossing rivers! swimming in the sea! drinking fresh coconut water!) the captivating snaps have been like the best kind of travel documentary.
From liming in Gros Islet to the simple beauty of church girls heading to service in Cap Haitien, to Bacchanal Street in Trinidad and chatting with designers Meiling and Anya Ayoung Chee at the hip new art-space Home, the two have shown so many dimensions of the Caribbean to their followers on IG.
We hope (and suspect based on some of Shala’s cryptic comments!) that there is more to come. Is this part of a project? A feature? We sure hope so.
In the meantime, take in the beauty of our island homes through the eyes of Michelle Elie and Shala Monroque.(all photos by Michelle Elie and Shala Monroque via Instagram)
