Progress is always good.
We love to see events and people improve from year to year and that’s why this year’s edition of the Crop-Over Breakfast Party Aurora was so great.
From the lush and lovely venue to the perfect park and ride, the ever-flowing drinks, constant food and great performances, Aurora was on point in every way, fulfilling the promise it had shown last year.
Good thing too because the crowd on hand was full of the type of big-spending, demanding professionals and business people who want full value for their money and will not hesitate to criticise harshly if things are not up to scratch.
They could have had no quibbles with the location which was set in expansive gardens that were basically in the middle of rainforest. The venue ‘Elysium’ was gorgeous with plenty of space for everything that an all-inclusive party requires – a large food tent, a champagne station, wine station and two bars, a massage area, a coconut man, a tent just for glitter tattoos and more.
The drinks kept flowing with hardly any wait – the Grape Vine-run wine bar was a particular delight as they kept me constantly topped up with sweet moscato.
Since Aurora ran from 5 am until the lunch-ly hour of 1 pm, they served both breakfast and lunch and both were excellent and varied. From seafood and chicken pasta prepared on the spot to bacon and eggs, ham and baked pork, yogurt, cereal and yummy cakes from Purity – there was something for every taste and that was just breakfast! Lunch was equally good though I was too stuffed by then to partake – even though there was souse. So you know I had to be full!
The entertainment was great – DJs Puffy, Private Ryan and the South Central DJs got the vibe going and it was maintained by the live performers Verseewild, Shanta Prince and Crop-Over 2014′s most popular ‘quartet’ Porgie/Leadpipe and Murda/Saddis.
Overall, a great time was had. I’ll be back for sure next year and I’m sure many others will be as well!
