Bright colours and bold textures and patterns dominated the looks we loved from New York Fashion Week this season.
Now, the fall/winter looks are always more severe than the spring/summer looks both in colour and cut – though frankly, we don’t understand why! The drearier the weather, the more cheerful the colours should be in our opinion!
A few designers seemed to agree with us this season, in particular Tadashi Shoji, whose colour-soaked collection reveled in royal blues and some reds that were surprisingly bright and not the usual warm, jewel-toned shades of red usually seen for FW.
We loved it all with these looks being some of our favourites.
Following on from Tadashi Shoji’s example, several other designers embraced lush shades of blue that were outside of the usual wintry navy.
Kate Spade in particular, who mixed it up with gorgeous shades of green and Missoni who spiced up their renowned prints with a gorgeous sky blue that was also repeated in some fabulous knee-high boots that appeared a few times.
Chartreuse was another colour trend we spotted – showing up at the colourful Kate Spade collection as well as in the richly coloured Ruffian collection and on a sexy jumpsuit at Cushnie et Ochs which just screams ‘all inclusive summer party’ to us rather than fall/winter anything!
Texture also spoke to us from the collections at NYFW, from the mossy looking designs at Missoni to this beautiful dropped-waist royal blue mini at Erin Fetherson and a spectacular cape at …you guessed it, Tadashi Shoji.
Take a look at what we loved and then feel free to share and tell us what you liked from the shows.
