From the very start we were confident that Tessanne would come out on top. With her amazing, world class voice and West Indians’ diehard, fanatical ability to rally around our own, it was a winning combination. Islandistas and islandistos in the diaspora lit up Sprint’s phone lines while the rest of us in the Caribbean…ermmm figured out our own ways to make our votes count (*whispers* Magic Jack*).

And NBC rewarded Jamaicans in particular for their loyalty and late nights by treating them to a dream come true – a Tessanne Chin duet with Celine Dion.

Tessanne Chin - Celine Dion 2Don’t know if you’ve heard but Jamaicans LOVE Celine Dion – bashment girl and badman, uptown and downtown, Celine rules a yaad. So when she appeared on stage with Tessanne, I’m sure some people passed out cold.

Overall, a fabulous show and a wonderful run. It was a a joy to see how the Caribbean united and rallied behind Tessanne. We were all on the same page – sucking our teeth at Jacquie, side-eyeing Adam, laughing at Dutty Berry’s hilarious recaps and most of all, backing Tessanne 100%!
