At opposite ends of the Atlantic, two islandistas have been doing their bit for charities close to their hearts recently.
Sprint legend Veronica Campbell-Brown presented the second ever Veronica Campbell Brown Foundation scholarship at her alma mater Vere Technical, in an emotional homecoming.
“It really feels good to be here, at home, ” said VCB at the ceremony, adding:
“It brings back a lot of memories because this institution is very much a part of who I am today.”
Meanwhile, British pop star Alexandra Burke broke records with a massive organ donor list push in Medway, ahead of the British Transplant Games next year. Her star power brought in a staggering 321 new donors in an hour.
The cause of organ donation is one that resonates with Alexandra, as her mother, former Soul II Soul singer Melissa Bell is on a kidney donors list, having suffered kidney failure some years ago due to diabetes.
